Same game, New map

My Dear Denizens,

I am sad to report that I have been greifed nearly ten times.  My farm animals have been repeatedly slaughtered, my home ruined over and over again, my chests smashed, and my hard earned items taken.      I tried to ride out the continual wave of vandalism and theft, but after one particularly horrific attack I am very sorry to say I lost my patience. In creative mode I removed all traces of my farm, freed the animals I still had left, and moved to Jeff’s hotel.  

Sadly, that too was attacked. Though thanks to you, my dear Denizens, I did not see the damage because you had repaired it.  This is a burden you should not have to bare, and I am sorry I have not been able to protect you from this.

I could give you excuses here, telling you why I’ve not been better, like how I wasn’t ready to take on the job of running a server, or how I don’t know Command Block code, but the reality is that I have simply tried to ignore the problem and hope it would fix it’s self.  It has only gotten worse.

Despite the fact that I have taken every measure I can to stop the grifers that haunt our world I have failed.  Not only has our property been damaged, but we as a community has been as well.

In the beginning people were carefree, happy, and eager to get to know each other, but now we are weary of each other, and we are weary of new people.  Suspicion and fear plague our ranks, and follow us like dogged shadows.

With out some changes this problem will only get worse.  In march we will have new Crafty Girl episodes airing, and with Alice in charge of the show, it’s going to be very very good.  And that will draw more people on to our server.  More new people mean more griefers.

I have taken a measure to stop the future players from becoming a problem by having the server set all new people to Adventure mode.  If people want to join our community and play in survival I or the mods will be happy to manually change your mode for you.  Grifers hide in the shadows, come on when no one else is around and strike when no one is looking.  

So those who join the community, play with others, and are trust worthy will be granted Survival.  Those who hide from us will be allowed to play with us, but they will not be able to hurt anybody or anything unless we let them.  I did this rather than white listing because everyone will have a chance to come play and have the opportunity to prove them selves as Denizens, rather than have the Ops create an elitist society that may not accept a Diamond in the Rough, because they did not recognize it.

While we are protected somewhat from future attacks by the Adventure mode/Survival mode we still have a griefer ghost on our map that has driven me to near despair.  And If I’m that fed up and I have creative mode I can only imagine what you all are feeling right now.  

The ops and I, then my bother and I have mulled the options over and we have come to decide the very best thing to do to protect our selves in the future is to reset the map.

At he mere suggestion of me resetting the world some of you have declared that you are never comeing back to the sever again.  I will remind you that I am not resetting the world on a whim, but I am trying to future proof for the Denizens who have yet to join us. This map is also free to play on, so you bought no guarantee against any loss.

I know loosing the world we have is hard, and I never wanted to have to be the “Destroyer of Worlds” again.  The new Minecraft command blocks will give me amazing new powers, and I can use them to protect you guys and all the new Denizens who are coming to live with us.

I have already selected a map for our new world spawn site, and I am building us a few very important “Government run” buildings, where I can personally watch over the most important items in our world.  I’m also shamelessly building my girls and I a castle, because I can.  It’s going to be amazing.  

The new map will have:
Keep inventory ON
Mob Griefing OFF (No creeper damage)
A new bank with locked chests.
A limited equivalent exchange market made of command blocks
Quests, community events and treasure hunts
A castle I am building for Mary and Alice that will have ballrooms and party halls
A “Studio” for us Crafty Girls to record in when we need “Extras”
And more

When the new map comes my brother and I will make the map we are currently on now available to down load for every one.  Then you could host it if you wanted too. (I warn you NOW, this map is incredibly big)

Everything you have done here is incredible, and I know with the new map all of that skill you have learned here is going to make it more amazing than I can imagine.  When we get the new Bukkit server I will take this new map with us.  Our numbers will grow, and we will have a lot of innocent new people.  I would like you to help me create a safe place for them here in our community.

I do not yet have an ETA of when the new map will be up, but I will have it done before the first episode of Crafty Girls comes out in March.
